Treatment Approach

I have experience and training in Focal Psychodynamic Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa (FPT), CBT-E, interpersonal therapy, relational psychodynamic therapy, attachment-informed therapy, and DBT-informed skills.

My work is informed by each person’s unique history and context. I consider eating disorder symptoms alongside the broader emotional, relational, identity, and life factors that may shape a person’s relationship with food, body, self, and others.

I am Louisa Kitchin, a Registered Psychologist and Clinical Psychology Registrar based in Melbourne. I provide individual therapy for adults experiencing eating disorders, disordered eating, body image concerns, anxiety, depression, perinatal mental health concerns, perfectionism, relationship difficulties, trauma-related concerns, grief and loss.

I offer a relational approach to treatment. I am interested in understanding eating and body image difficulties within the broader context of a person’s emotional life, relationships, coping patterns, and sense of self.
