Treatment Approach

Yive Yang is a compassionate dietitian who practices under a Non-Diet Approach. She is committed to helping individuals and gently supporting them to find food freedom. Yive strongly believes that everyone is unique, and that there is no one-size-fits-all ‘solution’. She aims to work alongside each individual, and guided by their lived experience, empower them to discover what wellbeing means to them.

Yive's areas of interest include eating disorders, chronic dieting, weight cycling, and body image concerns, and she is especially passionate about working with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Yive has undertaken further formal training in:
- Motivational Interviewing
- Non-diet / Health At Every Size (HAES®) counselling skills
- Mindful eating and 'Intuitive eating'
- Outpatient management of eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge eating disorder
- Body image counselling
- Trauma-informed dietetic care
- SSCM for eating disorders
- Exercise management for eating disorders

Profile

Yive is an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) who completed her undergraduate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics at the University of Newcastle and graduated with first class honours.

As someone who loves food, Yive is passionate about helping people to form healthy relationships with their eating. Yive has a special interest in eating disorders and is currently completing a PhD on this topic, looking at the role of dietitians as part of the eating disorder treatment team. Her passion for working with disordered eating patterns stems from her own experience with body image concerns; this is something that Yive now draws upon to help her provide compassionate, body-inclusive care to all individuals.

Outside of work, Yive is an avid baker who enjoys sewing, joyful movement, and spending time with her partner and two cats. She is also a serial plant killer but continues to try; vowing that one day she will grow green thumbs!
